Hello Grade 4 Parents

We are heading into week 13 of online learning and we know that it can be tough to stay motivated. Please know that we understand and feel it as well. Please reach out for support if you or your children need help.

Science
This week we are changing science a bit. We are starting a new unit called “Plant Growth and Changes”. In our Monday morning meeting, students will be doing a lesson with their teacher about how seeds spread to other places in the world. If your child cannot attend or missed the Monday meeting, please go through the lesson with them in order to facilitate the discussion questions. After the lesson, students will be making 2 or 3 different types of seed pods to learn about the ways that seeds travel.

Math
There are 2 lessons and a math quiz this week. Don’t forget that there is help available every day if your child is needing support.

Social
Our Animal Research Project continues this week with part 4. This week students need to complete the DIET and FOOD CHAIN slides.

Literacy
We are continuing our daily read alouds of two books, Percy Jackson (everyday at 10:30) and Bob (everyday at 11:00),

I was asked to pass the following message on from the CBE. (Sorry, try as I might I can't get the formatting to look normal on this blog):
Please help us plan yellow school bus routes for next year by pre-registering before June 14, 2020.
We know that there are many unknowns and we do not yet know what September will look like for return to school. We understand that you may not have finalized your decisions for September. However, if you do not pre-register by June 14, we will not include your address as bus routes are planned. It may take up to 4 weeks to add a bus stop for you, and congregated stop locations are only reviewed once per year. As a result, your stop location may be much further away from your home, as your address was not included in the route planning. There is no requirement to pay at the time of registration, and there is no financial penalty if you register for bus service and cancel before the cancellation deadline.
If you have not already done the following, please do so now:
1. Create a Parent CBE PowerSchool Account using your student’s CBE number above by following the instructions at this website: https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html
MyCBE / PowerSchool may, at times, not be accessible for various reasons, including system maintenance, and The Calgary Board of Education does not warrant or make any representations regarding the use, accuracy, timelines, applicability, performance, security, availability or reliability of MyCBE / PowerSchool;
